New project launch: Solar Energy for UVT’s sustainability goals

We are proud to announce the launch of a new project aimed at increasing energy sustainability.
Supported by the Modernization Fund, our university will develop a photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 686 kWp, capable of covering its entire Campus site electricity needs.
The project will significantly reduce our carbon footprint, lower the energy costs, and promote the transition to a green university model.
Implementation period: 1 year

Let's head towards a greener future!

As part of its strategic commitment to environmental sustainability and the transition to a low-carbon economy, Valahia University of Targoviste (UVT) has launched a major project aimed at developing new renewable energy production capacities.

Project Title: "Development of a photovoltaic power plant for the production of renewable electricity to ensure self-consumption at the Valahia University of Targoviste, Dambovita County"

Funding: The project is fully financed through the Modernization Fund, managed by the Ministry of Energy.
Total Value: 4.462.211,89 RON (VAT included)
Implementation Period: April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026
final completion deadline: December 31, 2026

General Objective: To increase the use of renewable energy, particularly solar energy, to meet UVT’s self-consumption needs.

Specific Objectives:
- Installing a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 686 kWp.
- Reducing the university's carbon footprint.
- Contributing to the transition towards a low-carbon energy system.
- Decreasing dependence on traditional energy sources.

Estimated impact:
- Average yearly yield: approximately 829,98 MWh/year
- Reduction in CO₂ emissions: 507.87 equivalent tone CO2/year

By implementing this project, Valahia University reaffirms its commitment to becoming a “green university” and thus taking concrete actions towards environmental protection and responsible resource use.
